Nikola Jovic would like to play for either Crvena Zvezda or Partizan in future

Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic said he’s willing to return to his native Serbia in the future and join one of the country’s two EuroLeague representatives: Crvena Zvezda and Partizan Belgrade.

“I love both teams [Crvena Zvezda and Partizan], I follow them a lot. At some point, I would like to come back to play for one of our two big teams, especially because I played in Mega against both of them and I would like to feel everything that happens there,” Jovic said to Telegraf.

Recently, Crvena Zvezda president Nebojsa Covic admitted that his club is interested in Jovic and could be looking to sign him, depending on the player’s status in the NBA and whether he gets time on the floor.

In his sophomore season in the NBA, the 20-year-old Jovic is registering 17.0 minutes during which he posts 6.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He has seen more action in 2024 and, a few weeks ago, he scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

If Jovic continues improving his game and manages to further establish himself in the NBA, then it may be a long time until he actually decides to come back to Europe. Until then, he’ll at least remain a supporter of both Serbian powerhouses and an avid follower of the EuroLeague game.

“I am a big fan of the Euroleague, Zvezda and Partizan,” Jovic said. “I have many more friends in Zvezda, so somehow I follow them a little more. I really think a lot is being invested this year, it looks really cool and it’s a pleasure to watch both teams. Although Partizan may have better results in the Euroleague, they did not go to the Final Four last year. They are struggling a bit this year as well, Zvezda can’t find a perfect rhythm where they could enter the race for the playoffs.”
