Real Madrid made history by beating Olympiacos 93-89 in Abu Dhabi and winning the first-ever EuroLeague SuperCup.
This was also the first trophy of the team under new coach Pedro Martinez, and it came with a balanced effort.
Edy Tavares, with six points and seven rebounds, plus his usual huge presence in the paint, took the MVP trophy.
Still, it was the newcomers Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (12 p.), Jaime Pradilla (11 p.), and Mikael Jantunen (11 p.) who led the winners, while Olympiacos tried to mount a comeback in the closing seconds but fell short.
To be exact, Olympiacos made it a two-point game (91-89) after a three-pointer by Evan Fournier, which was not enough this time around. Fournier finished the night with 14 points, while Sasha Vezenkov scored 22.
Nick Smith Jr., Gabriele Procida, Max Shulga, and Olivier Sarr did not play for Real Madrid. Although Donta Hall had a great game, the absence of injured Nikola Milutinov may have been decisive for the Greek team.
