Olympiacos will be without Thomas Walkup for around three weeks, after the Greek international point guard suffered a gluteal hematoma following a knock in training.
Walkup is ruled out for Wednesday’s (Oct. 10) matchup against Dubai BC, the much-anticipated Greek League derby vs. Panathinaikos, as well as the EuroLeague double week against Anadolu Efes (Oct. 14) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (Oct. 16). He is also expected to miss the domestic game versus Panionios.
His condition will be re-evaluated afterward, but early indications suggest he could be sidelined even longer, with Olympiacos facing Bayern (Oct. 26), Mykonos (Oct. 29), Monaco (Oct. 31), Hapoel (Nov. 2), and Iraklis shortly after.
Walkup has been a key piece for coach Giorgos Bartzokas, averaging 4.5 points, 5 assists, and 1.5 steals in over 25 minutes per game. His absence compounds Olympiacos’ backcourt issues, with Keenan Evans still unavailable. As a result, recently signed Frank Ntilikina’s activation has become an urgent necessity for the Reds.
