Giorgos Bartzokas has heated argument with fan after Olympiacos loss

Coming out of a disappointing overtime loss for Olympiacos against Dubai, the head coach of the Reds, Giorgos Bartzokas, had an exchange with an angry fan at Coca-Cola Arena.

The incident stemmed from verbal abuse directed at the 60-year-old tactician following Tuesday’s game. After opting to address the situation and heading to the stands, he was frustrated as well.

Further intervention averted escalation.

After five EuroLeague wins in a row, falling to Dubai limited the season tally to 16-9, amid a battle with several teams for a berth in the Playoffs 2026 and homecourt advantage in a best-of-five series for a ticket to the championship-crowning Final Four, which will be held in Telekom Center Athens.

Keenan Evans (left Achilles tendon), Moustapha Fall (left knee), Monte Morris (left knee), Frank Ntilikina (ankle), and Kostas Papanikolaou (back) remained unavailable for Round 26 of the Regular Season, with Omiros Netzipoglou being a healthy scratch. Resuming action to complete a double-game week, Olympiacos returns home to face Virtus Bologna on Friday.

With Davis Bertans (calf), Boogie Ellis (hamstring), Mouhammadou Jaiteh (Achilles), Kosta Kondic (groin), and Nate Mason (back) sidelined, along with Taran Armstrong and Matt Ryan, the team coached by Jurica Golemac taking down the Greek powerhouse after five extra minutes improved the W-L tally to 12-14, including nine wins in 12 home contests. Up next is Real Madrid traveling to Dubai, and a possible opportunity to decrease the current distance of three games from the Play-In Showdown zone on Thursday.
