The Real Madrid vs. Hapoel Tel Aviv game next Tuesday, March 24th, at the Movistar Arena (9:00 PM) will be played behind closed doors.
As was the case against Maccabi in Round 21, Sergio Scariolo’s team will face the Israeli side without fans in the stands. The Madrid Government Delegation has declared the match “high risk,” so it will be played without spectators.
Real Madrid has a record of 15 wins and 1 loss at home (against Panathinaikos). Los Blancos have made the Movistar Arena a fortress and will want to repeat that success in a direct clash against Hapoel to solidify their position in the top 4 of the standings.
They join Barça as the Spanish team that has played against both Israeli teams behind closed doors. Baskonia will do the same soon against Maccabi and Hapoel, as they confirmed on March 16th.
The club released a statement in the afternoon, officially confirming the decision:
Real Madrid C.F. announces that the EuroLeague game next Tuesday, March 24, between Real Madrid and Hapoel Tel Aviv will be played without spectators.
Following a meeting held by the State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport, which declared the game high-risk, Real Madrid is complying with the recommendation made by the National Police.
The cost of tickets purchased for this game will be refunded immediately and automatically, without the need for any claim by the purchaser. For season ticket holders, the corresponding amount will be credited towards the renewal of next season’s season ticket.
