Walkup dismisses Panathinaikos’ Greek passport revocation request as “nonsense”

Right before the last round of Euroleague’s regular season, Thomas Walkup spoke at Olympiacos’ Media Day, where he was asked about Panathinaikos’ request to revoke his passport.

Walkup commented: “I wasn’t part of the situation that was created. I don’t know where this issue came from. It was silly and irrelevant to me. It’s nonsense. I’m w, to represent the country and the national team. From a sporting perspective, I gave everything I could—it doesn’t mean we’ll win every game. I’ve said it many times: this country is my home.”

Olympiacos faces this last round with only one thing at stake: the team will secure first place with a win against Armani or if Valencia loses to Dubai: “Olympiacos wants to finish first, and that’s the goal. To go all the way. This year it looks like the team has the tools to win the EuroLeague.”

Walkup was also asked about the impressive play at the end of the first half against Hapoel, when he delivered an assist to Donta Hall, who finished with a spectacular buzzer-beating dunk: “That wouldn’t have happened if he weren’t such an athletic center. He’s the only one who could make a dunk like that in Europe.”
