ATHENS — Olympiacos beat Fenerbahce Beko in Telekom Center Athens on Friday, in the opening semifinal of the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four Athens, presented by Etihad. The victory propelled the three-time champion Greek powerhouse into the championship game, marking a historic milestone as Olympiacos participates in its 15th Final Four.
Following a convincing win in the Telekom Center Athens, Alec Peters reflected on the magnitude of the stage and the team’s clinical execution. The 31-year-old forward, who is a former EuroLeague champion with CSKA, praised his team’s focus and respected the resilience of their opponents.
“These events are special for a reason. Special moments happen. We started, out of the gates, exactly how we wanted to, defensively, and we set the tone from there,” he said in a postgame interview, after putting up 17 points on 7/7 from the field, including three triples.
His reaction followed a tremendous defensive performance, as Fener did not score over the first seven minutes of the first quarter and the first six minutes of the second quarter. This defensive suffocating display helped the three-time champion Greek powerhouse secure the win.
Peters emphasized the key for the Reds by analyzing the tactical nature of the game, adding, “Efficiency. That’s the name of the game in basketball. Whoever is the most efficient usually comes out on top. So, I’m glad that we had more points than them. It was a battle. They gave problems for a reason. They are well-coached. They got a lot of good players, and we just came out on top today.”
