Sasa Obradovic is no longer the head coach of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet, according to a report by Serbian outlet Meridian Sport on Saturday, which was officially confirmed one day later.
The 57-year-old tactician’s second stint as the play-caller for the Belgrade outfit came to an end after a devastating elimination by archrival Partizan Mozzart Bet in the Semifinals of the AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs 2026.
Under his guidance, Zvezda originally showed immense promise, capturing the midseason Radivoj Korac Cup 2026 and mounting a legitimate continental campaign in the EuroLeague Regular Season, before being eliminated during the Play-In Showdown.
Aiming to salvage the remainder of the season, Milan Tomic will lead the team through the upcoming domestic league championship tournament in Nis, scheduled between May 29 and 31. Moving into the Playoffs of the AdmiralBet Basketball League of Serbia, he is taking over the reins as the interim head coach.
Tomic has previously guided the club to both ABA League and Serbian national titles during his initial debut season at the helm in 2018. Before transitioning to executive roles, he built a legendary playing career as a fierce point guard for Olympiacos, winning the 1997 EuroLeague title. Having returned last summer as the primary executive overseeing sports operations, he now resurfaces to the bench to steer the staggered roster.
Meanwhile, Obradovic also holds deep roots with the red and whites as a former guard who won back-to-back Yugoslav Championships in 1993 and 1994, before bouncing back as a head coach in 2020 and from the top of the 2025-26 season.
