According to Meridian Sport, Panathinaikos has prepared a major offer for Zeljko Obradovic, a claim that sources close to the team deny.
While PAO is preparing for the start of the Greek league finals against Olympiacos, which could slightly cheer up the fans after a not-so-great season in which their biggest rival became the champion of Europe, there is already a lot of talk about a new coach.
Although Ergin Ataman is still on the bench, it is no secret that his position is under threat, and according to Meridian’s reports, Zeljko Obradovic is the first choice of Dimitris Giannakopoulos.
Reportedly, PAO is ready to offer Obradovic a two-year contract worth 10 million euros, which would make the Serbian the highest-paid coach in Europe.
Zeljko won five of his nine EuroLeague titles on the Panathinaikos bench, and it remains to be seen whether an agreement will be reached and whether Obradovic will find the motivation to return to the bench after leaving Partizan following a poor start to the season.
