The EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) has announced the winners of its 2026 Players’ Choice Awards, with Jean Montero, Tornike Shengelia and Thomas Walkup receiving recognition from their fellow players for their outstanding performances and sportsmanship during the season.
Jean Montero was voted the 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Best Newcomer”, collecting an impressive 57% of the votes. The young guard earned widespread recognition after an outstanding debut EuroLeague campaign with Valencia Basket, quickly establishing himself as one of the competition’s brightest rising stars. His impact, maturity and consistent performances throughout his first season made him the clear choice among his peers.

Veteran forward Tornike Shengelia received the 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Most Respected Player” award with 41% of the votes. One of the EuroLeague’s most admired figures, Shengelia was recognized not only for his leadership and competitive excellence but also for the respect he commands across the league after years of performing at the highest level.

Meanwhile, Thomas Walkup became the recipient of the 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Fair Play” award, earning 26% of the votes. The distinction celebrates integrity, respect and exemplary sportsmanship on and off the court, values that Walkup has consistently embodied throughout his EuroLeague career and in a season where he won the title with Olympiacos.

The list of award winners also included several additional distinctions voted on exclusively by EuroLeague players.
Valencia Basket prospect Sergio De Larrea was named the 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Best Young Player”, receiving a dominant 73.4% of the votes. The award recognizes the best-performing player under the age of 22, and De Larrea’s rapid development and growing role throughout the season made him the overwhelming favorite among his peers.
The 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Best 6th Man” award went to Real Madrid forward Trey Lyles, who collected 38.5% of the votes. The category honors a player who started more than half of his games from the bench while making the biggest impact on his team’s overall performance. Lyles provided Madrid with valuable production and versatility throughout the campaign, establishing himself as one of the most influential players in his role across the competition.
Meanwhile, Crvena zvezda forward Jordan Nwora earned the 2026 ELPA Players’ Choice “Most Improved Player” award after receiving 33% of the votes. The recognition is given to the player who demonstrated the most significant improvement compared to his previous EuroLeague season, with Nwora taking a major step forward and becoming one of the key contributors for the Belgrade side during the 2025-26 campaign.
