Valencia Basket has officially appointed Xavi Albert as the club’s new head coach on a two-year contract.
The 38-year-old replaces Pedro Martínez after serving as his assistant for the past three seasons, with the club opting for continuity following a historic campaign that saw Valencia win both the EuroLeague and the Liga Endesa title.
Albert is no stranger to the role. He previously stepped in as interim head coach for the final 11 games of the 2023-24 season after the dismissal of Álex Mumbrú, guiding Valencia to a top-four finish in the regular season.
A Valencia native, Albert has spent years developing within the club’s youth system and has also worked with Spain’s national team youth programs. His promotion reflects Valencia’s commitment to maintaining its established playing identity while continuing to promote coaches developed within the organization.
