Panathinaikos continued to do incredible work in this transfer window, and PAO announced a new addition on Wednesday for Zeljko Obradovic’s team.
The player in question is Guerschon Yabusele, who is arriving in Athens from the NBA and will be a huge asset for the “greens” in their pursuit of the EuroLeague title.
Upon his arrival in Athens, Yabusele officially spoke for the first time to the club’s website.
“I feel amazing to be part of such a great club, with tremendous history and great ambitions. It’s a team with an outstanding roster, an outstanding coach and an incredible fan base. I’m grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to represent this great club”
He also talked about his new teammates. He, Mathias Lessort, and Moustapha Fall know each other from the national team, and Guerschon mentioned that he is well-acquainted with the other players too.
“They are my brothers, truly my brothers, both of them. “Mous” and I had a wonderful season together at ASVEL, while Mathias and I have been playing alongside for many years with the French national team. It’s incredible for me to have the opportunity to play with them again at Panathinaikos.
Of course, I know all of my new teammates, whether I’ve played against them or not. Kendrick, Nigel, Juancho, Sloukas, Cedi and all the guys. They’re all outstanding players and I can’t wait to work with them.”
There was also talk about Zeljko Obradovic, and the Frenchman stated that he can’t wait to work with the famed coach.
“We had a great conversation and I truly can’t wait to work with coach Obradovic. Obviously, I know everything about him. I admire his career, but also the way he sees and understands the game. I believe we’re going to have a great partnership.”
PAO has one of the best fan bases in Europe, and Yabusele highlighted that he is eager to play in front of them.
“I truly love them! They have genuine love and passion for the team. They support it 200%, whether it wins or loses. I’ve played at Telekom Center Athens as a Real Madrid player, and also in the 2024 EuroLeague Final in Berlin. Honestly, it was always my dream to play for a team with fans like Panathinaikos’. I’ll give everything I have to make them happy. I can’t wait for my first home game.”
Finally, he revealed what the goals are for the new season.
“My goal is to win as many trophies as possible with Panathinaikos and help the team with my experience and my passion, so that together we can achieve all of our goals.”
