Barcelona have reached an agreement with Aleksander Sekulic to become the club’s new head coach, according to Eurohoops sources.

Sekulic emerged as one of Barcelona’s leading candidates in recent weeks, alongside Paolo Galbiati and Giannis Sfairopoulos. He is now set to take over the Catalan side ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 48-year-old arrives after a brief but successful stint with Dubai, leading the club to the 2026 ABA League.

Ironically, Dubai turned to former Barcelona coach Xavi Pascual as Sekulic’s replacement. Pascual left Barcelona of his own accord, explaining that his departure was not the result of a specific conflict but rather a mismatch with the club’s internal dynamics.

Born in Ljubljana, Sekulic has coached Geoplin Slovan, Triglav Kranj, Krka, Primorska, Nymburk, Lokomotiv Kuban, Zenit and Dubai. Since 2020, he has also served as the head coach of the Slovenian national team.
