Real Madrid has officially matched Valencia Basket’s offer sheet for Eli Ndiaye, retaining the rights to the forward, the ACB confirmed.

The Spanish league announced on Thursday that Madrid exercised its right of first refusal within the established deadline:

Real Madrid has matched Valencia Basket’s offer within the established deadline and therefore retains the rights to Eli John Ndiaye in the Liga Endesa.

Valencia Basket submitted its offer for the Madrid academy product on July 18. After Real Madrid was officially notified the following day, the club had five calendar days—until July 24 at 11:59 p.m.—to decide whether to match it.

This means that the Real Madrid youth player, also valuable as a homegrown talent, will remain with the club.

With the signings of Mikael Jantunen and Jaime Pradilla, in addition to the versatility of Chuma Okeke, Pedro Martínez appears to have a strong arsenal at the power forward position.
