Wendell Moore Jr. is the new player for Virtus Bologna, announced the club from northern Italy on social media.
Mozzart Sport recently reported Partizan’s interest in him, and shortly after, the same source indicated that Moore was on the verge of joining Rome, but we will indeed see the guard in the EuroLeague.
As Virtus confirmed, Moore Jr. has signed a one-year contract with the Italian giant, which will also be his first club in Europe.
Per press release: “Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has reached a one-year agreement with Wendell Moore Jr.
The American shooting guard/small forward, standing at 1.96m, joins Virtus for his first European experience after a significant journey in the States. The Richmond native made a name for himself nationally during his NCAA days with Duke, where he played for three seasons. It was particularly in his final season with the Blue Devils that Moore Jr. stood out, with numbers (39 games all as a starter; 34 minutes; 41.3% from three; 5.3 rebounds; 13.4 points) that earned him the 26th overall pick by the Houston Rockets and the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. At the youth level, he also boasts an American Championship with the Under-16 and a World Under-17 title, both won with the United States National Team.
Since then, Wendell’s career has seen him split between the NBA (with the Minnesota T’Wolves, Charlotte Hornets, and Detroit Pistons) and the G-League (with the Iowa Wolves, Maine Celtics, and Motor City Cruise). In the last season, his performance in the G-League was quite positive with averages of: 30 minutes; 19.5 points; 5 rebounds; 3.3 assists; 39.1% from three.

For the former Duke University student, this will be his first European club, and the shooting guard will try to help the project.
Moore Jr. was selected as the 26th pick in the 2022 NBA draft by the Dallas Mavericks, but they immediately released him to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He also played for the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, and then again the Pistons, where he played last year.
He has played a total of 96 NBA games, averaging 2.3 points per game, 1.4 rebounds, and just under one assist.
