The Euroleague is expected to open a disciplinary procedure in the Thomas Walkup case, addressing how and if the player was approached by Dubai BC while under contract with Olympiacos.
According to EuroLeague bylaws, this is not permitted when a player is under contract to another EuroLeague club, unless written permission is given.
Walkup still has a contract with Olympiacos until the summer of 2027, which didn’t include any buyout clauses. Olympiacos has already sent a letter addressing the situation both to Dubai BC and the EuroLeague, while the player has unilaterally terminated his contract.
More on the case is expected to be officially known in the next few days, since this remains a hot topic which at the moment is unresolved.
Given that Walkup is not attending the training camp as he was supposed to, Olympiacos has opened up an internal disciplinary proceeding against him, while his side is also expected to appeal to BAT, which is the FIBA-approved court for financial disputes.
