The start of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season is about to start, and in the official preview, last season’s MVP and champion Sasha Vezenkov talked about the past and the future.
The Bulgarian star explained the need to build on last season’s success, and he also had plenty of praise for Jean Montero.
The European champions will begin their campaign in Vitoria against Baskonia on September 24 at 20:30 CEST, in what has become a regular fixture in recent years.
Before the start of the season, Sasha recalled last year’s EuroLeague finale and the tournament in Athens: “Memories. It was an incredible night and an incredible three-day period for us. Winning the EuroLeague was our goal, our dream. In the end, we achieved it.
Every season is different. That is the beauty of sports. No one remembers the past, and no one knows what the future will bring. So you have to live in the present. It is good for our legacy and our name, but we have to fight all over again.”
On Montero’s signing, he added: “The way he plays makes everything look easy. Last season was his first in the EuroLeague, and he showed so much. He has come here to help us, and for us to help him. He brings something different.”
