Sarunas Jasikevicius found room for a joke after Fenerbahce set a EuroLeague single-game record with 14 blocks in its 74-65 victory over Partizan in Istanbul.
“Can you imagine how bad of a defense we’re playing to keep coming around and blocking shots? If you play good defense, you don’t need to block a shot, but the record is always fun, and we’ll take it, for sure, and celebrate,” Jasikevicius said.
Markus Bingham led the historic effort with five blocks as Fenerbahce surpassed the previous record of 12, set by Zalgiris against Estudiantes on December 13, 2000, and matched by the Lithuanian side against Asseco Prokom on December 18, 2008.
