Real & CSKA players speak about 3rd place game

Tomorrow (21/5) Real Madrid will face CSKA Moscow in the 3rd place Game of the EuroLeague Final Four.

Some of the players, including the major stars, of the two teams spoke about this match stating that it’s “tough”, or “hard” for them to play in it.

Also Aaron Jackson suggested an alternative….

Sergio Llull (Real Madrid):

It’s a game that has no reward. It´s hard to come out and play in 48 hours after having lost a very important game which is the semifinal. But, still, it is part of the Euroleague format and we have to adapt to it and go out and try to win tomorrow.

Nando De Colo (CSKA Moscow):

Third place Game is tough for a player. It’s not like an international tournament you play with the national team. You go for a medal there. Here you don’t go for anything. You play a game and you win it or lose it but it doesn’t make any difference. But we need to play it. We need to play against Real Madrid tomorrow and then get ready for the VTB League semifinals.

Viktor Khryapa (CSKA Moscow)

It’s a game for… nothing. It doesn’t give you any advantage for a next season any spot in EuroLeague. It’s not something players enjoy. There’s nothing to play. The season is over. We have the VTB League ahead of us, Real Madrid has the Liga Endesa. So we shouldn’t spend the time playing for… I don’t know what.

Aaron Jackson (CSKA Moscow):

There is no example of such games in U.S. sport. And for me there’s no reason in 3rd place game. We both win to play for a championship, 2nd place means nothing. Every team who gets to Final Four worked hard during the season to get to the big game. If you are not there – it’s already big loss Yeah, this game should be definitely excluded from competition system. I think the young kids championship game should be played on a big stage before senior final.
