Bourousis an option for Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos has been actively scanning the market for a center recently and one of the options that are considered quite intriguing to the club is a player they know very well: Giannis Bourousis.

According to Eurohoops sources, the two sides have already discussed the possibility of the Greek center returning to the Greens to provide a valuable helping hand with the frontline lineup. Panathinaikos is looking for an extra body that can expand the rotation in the center position and unload some of the weight that James Gist is carrying (26 minutes per game in EuroLeague).

Bourousis is currently playing for the  Zhejiang Lions in China. The CBA League regular season is concluded on February 11 and the playoffs begin in 3/3. Since the EuroLeague transfer deadline expires on February 28, Bourousis must leave his current team prior to the beginning of the postseason in order to return to Panathinaikos.

Bourousis can be an ideal choice for Panathinaikos since he’s a player that would be assimilated in the team harmoniously and not disturb its chemistry, something which is a priority for head coach Xavi Pascual. Last season he averaged 7.8 points plus 4.8 rebounds in EuroLeague and 10.6 and 5.6 rebounds in the Greek League, helping Panathinaikos win the championship title.
