Pesic: “I’ve been a coach for 35 years and can’t remember a team grabbing 50”

Barcelona head coach Svetislav Pesic had nothing but praise for his players following the team’s blowout victory over Olympiacos on the road.

After all, he had many reasons to be happy. Especially when it came to his guy’s urge to fight for every rebound.

The Blaugrana grabbed no less than 50 (!) boards, one less than their EuroLeague record of 51. Certainly a difference maker vs. the Reds and a number that impressed even veteran Pesic.

“I have been a coach for 35 years and played for 15 years, and I can’t remember a team making 50 rebounds at this level. Coaches dream about this, now it’s a reality,” Pesic admitted.

Regarding the overall performance of Barcelona, the Serbian coach said the following:

“It was a great game for our team with excellent concentration. We controlled the rebounds all the game, especially the third quarter, which I always say is a new game. Their most important player, Printezis, was our target; we know he’s the one who makes a difference with his great balance between the inside and outside game. I’m happy that we won, but also how we won the game.”
