Maldonado announced as Gran Canaria head coach

Maldonado who coached team, from 2005 to 2009, was announced as the new head coach by Gran Canaria, confirming earlier reports.

The team from Las Palmas who will participate in the Euroleague next season announced their new head coach with the following press release:

“Salvador Maldonado Ruiz (1959, Barcelona) will be the head coach of Herbalife Gran Canaria for the next season. The coach had already been in the team between 2005 and 2009. Now, he is back after his last two campaigns in Movistar Estudiantes.

Maldonado has leaded seven different teams in ACB, including Herbalife Gran Canaria. Right now he is in the sixth place in Liga Endesa with more than 600 games coached. Moreover, he overcame 300 wins in the Spanish League this season, milestone that only five another coaches have reached.

The introductory press conference of the new yellow head coach will be tomorrow at 12.00AM in the Gran Canaria Arena.”
