Giannakopoulos implies PAO might be in the run to sign Kostas Sloukas next year

Kostas Sloukas shared a photo of himself wearing the Greek national team jersey on Instagram along with a “can’t wait” comment, showing how impatient he is to join Greece in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.

The responses to his post weren’t what you would typically expect and might even hold a hint to his future.

A fangirl started it with a shoutout to the Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos asking him to bring Sloukas to the team. The shout was heard and Giannakopoulos answered with “next year”, implying PAO will make a move when the time comes.

Both Panathinaikos and Olympiacos were strongly interested in Sloukas last year but the 28-year-old guard signed a 2+1 contract with Fenerbahce. Their deal has an opt-out clause for the next summer and that will be the time for the interested parties to convince Sloukas to join them.
