Union of Euroleague basketball referees vs Dimitris Giannakopoulos

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Following Dimitris Giannakopoulos’ accusations that two EuroLeague referees were betting, and that Olympiacos have promised 20.000 euros each, following the OAKA derby, UEBO has decided to release a letter addressing the issue.

The letter reads:

“Union of Euroleague basketball referees (UEBO) expresses its absolute rejection towards the accusations made by the owner of Panathinaikos Mr. Giannakopolous against two of our members and that is why we demand that the veracity of such accusations is proven and in any case we reserve the right to take legal action to protect the integrity, transparency, and professionalism of all UEBO referees.

We are not willing to accept any false accusation from any representative of any team, since, in our opinion, they have been made for the purpose of manipulating and conditioning the work of the referees, and to continue with the unproven accusations, to make their decisions far harder which could affect the competition.

UEBO Board of directors”
