Olympiacos captain Vassilis Spanoulis will undergo a season-ending surgery after being diagnosed with a peroneal tendon rupture on his right foot, Olympiacos’ team manager announced following the team’s defeat to Zalgiris Kaunas.

Spanoulis, who becomes 37 in August, got injured in the first half of the EuroLeague game between Olympiacos and Olimpia Milano on March 14 and has been out ever since. The original estimation was that the three-time EuroLeague champion and Final Four MVP would miss the remainder of the EuroLeague regular season but the veteran combo guard is now ruled out for 2018-2019 overall.
