Zalgiris Kaunas’ Australian center Jock Landale will be donating $100 for each 3-pointer scored and dunk made in the upcoming game of his team against Real Madrid Thursday (9/1) to help in the fight going on in his native country against catastrophic bushfires.
“Both teams are very talented and I think we’ll come out there and perform really well and hard. I just want to capitalize on the opportunity. To kind of give back to the communities in Australia. I’m hoping it will spark some interest in EuroLeague and other people will jump on board and help,” Landale said in a video by Zalgiris TV.
Australia has experienced the worst bushfires in the country’s history. It has been a natural disaster of unprecedented proportions with 24 people and millions of animals been killed. Over 12 million acres have been burned by the fires.
Landale was born in Melbourne, Australia and lived in the country before moving to the USA to join Saint Mary’s College and play in the NCAA.
Inspired by Jock Landale’s move, Anadolu Efes forward Chris Singleton tweeted that he’ll be doing the same in the game of his team against Barcelona Friday (10/1).
