Partizan shocks Crvena Zvezda

By playing some excruciating defense and forcing Crvena Zvezda in probably its worst game in the season, Partizan won the Belgrade derby (68 – 60) and semifinal for the Serbian Cup. They will meet already qualified Mega Leks in the Final, tomorrow.

Fighting tooth and nail against the generally more qualitative Red Star, Partizan players managed to controlled the key aspect of the rhythm, while erasing everything good that generally characterizes their opponents’ game.

Coach Dzikic’s physical approach on the match made a serious difference overall. With few solutions in their low post game, way too many perimeter shots, Crvena Zvezda faced some serious problems that costed them the qualification to the Final.

Kevin Jones scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to become the protagonist of Partizan, while for Crvena Zvezda, Tarence Kinsey finished with 22 points.

Earlier, Mega Leks had become the first team of Final by winning Metalac 97 – 86, behind 24 points and 7 rebounds by Danilo Nikolic.
