Panathinaikos point guard and new team captain Nick Calathes, spoke for the official site of Euroleague about the upcoming season, life in the Green camp minus Dimitris Diamantidis, his team’s new additions, the format of the revamped Euroleague and more.

“It’s going to be very different for the fans and the organization. After all he accomplished here and being the face of the organization and the club, we obviously are going to miss him. It’s a great opportunity to move forward and with all the new guys making a step towards winning.”

“Leading is s a big role for me. Obviously I have watched him for 4 years and following him, seeing how he leads. It’s a big step for me and I’m ready for it. The thing is winning, that’s the goal.”

“We got a lot of new guys. We got Mike James who had a great year, K.C. Rivers who is a knock-down shooter, Demetris Nichols who has been playing in Euroleague and he brings a veteran mentality. Pat Calathes who obviously has played here before and Chris Singleton who can play at both the ‘4’ and the ‘5’. They are all guys who can do a lot of different things and it’s tough to guard them.”

“The new Euroleague format is more NBA style, which I like. Our fans get to see the best teams in Europe play in this arena. It’s good for everyone to see how good this competition is.”
