Real survives a tough Unics in Madrid

Real managed to get away with the win against Unics in Madrid with 89-75. The Spanish team improved to 7-2 while the former sank to 2-7. Felipe Reyes scored 16 points and reached one more personal milestone, Sergio Lllull had 14 and Rudy Fernanez added 12.

The hosts started the game with a 9-0 lead, making the score 19-10 at 7′. With Antony Randolph and Jonas Maciulis doing damage, Real was up 25-17 after the first quarter.

Still, even when Real started pulling away with an 8-point lead in the second period, the visitors could manage to stay close. Pavel Antipov buried a long range shot for Unics at 15′, making the score 32-27, while Kostas Kaimakoglou brought to a one-point deficit. At halftime, the Spanish team was up 40-37.

In the beginning of the second half, Unics’ defensive pressure had an effect on Real who remained low at scoring. Marko Banic gave the lead to the Russian team for the first time in the game with 42-43. However, Real stood strong and thanks to its quality managed to pull away with 62-55 after 30 minutes.

Artsiom Parakhouski tried to keep his team together with a few personal shots in the beginning of the final period, yet the hosts didn’t allow a comeback. In the end his 19 points and 7 rebounds weren’t enough to keep his team close until the end.
