Venezia goes up, Reggio Emilia down

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

A switch in the second place of the standings in the Italian League where we have a new team following the trail of first Olimpia Milano.

In the conclusion of Week 12, Torino (6-6) beat Reggio Emilia (8-4) mostly thanks to an offensively superb first half (49 – 37) forcing its opponents to fall to the third position of the standings. This gave the opportunity to Reyer Venezia (9-3), that had already defeated Brescia (5-7) at home, to claim the spot no. 2 for themselves.

Olimpia Milano (11-1) faced some trouble against Enel Brindisi for 30 minutes, but ultimately prevailed to still keep every other team in the league below them and at a distance. Meanwhile, Avellino (8-4) had no problem against struggling Cremona (2-10) and Pistoia (5-7) delivered another blow to underachiever Cantu (4-8).

Of course, one of the Week’s highlights was the induction of the great Oscar Schdmit to the Italian Basketball Hall of Fame. The biggest honor in the country’s basketball scene and a fitting way to recognize the Brazilian scoring master’s rich contribution to the sport in Italy.
