Virtus Bologna negotiating exit clause with BCL

Virtus Bologna is negotiating its exit clause from the Basketball Champions League, as reported by the Italian newspaper “Il Resto del Carlino”.

The 2019 trophy winners chose not to return to BCL for the 2019-20 season in order to join 7DAYS EuroCup, and now the two sides are negotiating the sum (initially 250,000 euros) for the Italian team’s exit from the competition.

According to the same report, some talks took place in Tenerife during FIBA Intercontinental Cup last weekend, where Virtus Bologna lost the title game to Iberostar Tenerife.

Virtus has already filled the paperwork and had registered for the 2019-20 season with the BCL prior to the decision to ultimately join the EuroCup.
