After five years, Axel Toupane will return to native France and the team where he started off his career – SIG Strasbourg.

He played for Strasbourg for four seasons (2011-15), winning two Cups during his last season there, before moving on to the US where he played in the NBA and the G League.

Toupane logged a total of 25 NBA games with Denver, Milwaukee, and New Orleans. He also played for Zalgiris and Olympiacos.

The 28-year-old forward has penned a short-term deal until October 17th as he replaces injured Leopold Cavaliere to help the squad prepare for the upcoming season and himself get back into form after almost half a year off the court.

This past season, Toupane played for Unicaja Malaga averaging 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds over 36 games in Spain and EuroCup before suffering an Achilles tendon injury in mid-February.
