The city of Nizhny Novgorod has been awarded the hosting of the 2021 Basketball Champions League Final 8 this season and BCL CEO Patrick Comninos is confident that the event will live up to the competition’s standards.

“We are very pleased that Nizhny Novgorod will host the Final Eight of the Basketball Champions League. Despite the difficult situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are grateful to the authorities of Russia, the Russian Basketball Federation, VTB United League and the Nizhny Novgorod club for their desire to help us organize this event in the best and safest way,” Comninos said in a recent interview with TASS. “The club from Nizhny Novgorod has been playing in the Champions League for several years now, and we know the venue, the city and all the relevant infrastructure very well.”

“We are fully confident that all facilities will be at the level of a leading European basketball event such as the Final Eight, and we will work with all of the aforementioned organizations to organize this main event of the fifth season”, Comninos adds.

The BCL Final Eight will take place May 5-9 at the cultural and entertainment complex “Nagorny-Arena”, Nizhny’s homecourt.
