Not everything went Hapoel U-NET Holon’s way in the Basketball Champions League and, despite the 84-80 home win against Happy Casa Brindisi, they will have to go through the Play-In series.

The Israelis also needed Darussafaka to take down U-BT Cluj Napoca but the latter put on a big comeback to ruin those plans. Cluj took the first spot with 5-1 followed by Hapoel (4-2) and Darussafaka (2-4). Brindisi finished with 1-5.

Joe Ragland led the way with 19 points and eight assists while Chris Johnson logged a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rafael Menco added 19 points.

For the Italian team, Nick Perkins had 16 while Mattia Udom scored 15 and Jeremy Chappell 13 points. Udom also grabbed ten rebounds.

Hapoel had an upper hand throughout the whole game and was up by as much as 16 points early on (29-13). They held the distance and, although Brindisi cut the gap to just four points down the stretch (79-75), Guy Pnini’s well-timed three-pointer was the dagger that secured the win for Hapoel.
