BAXI Manresa announced Monday they have signed head coach Pedro Martinez to a contract extension until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Martinez, 61, is headed for his ninth campaign in the club and fourth in a row in his third stint while this will be his 30th season overall in the Spanish Liga Endesa.
Martinez was named the Basketball Champions League Best Coach of the 2021-22 season, leading his team to the competition’s final at the Bilbao Final Four this past May.
During the offseason, his name has been linked to Valencia, though a deal was ultimately not finalized.
“We hope to make a competitive team, as we have a lot of changes ahead of us, but we want to maintain the values we have maintained in recent seasons; we hope to be able to continue enjoying the sport, our hobby, and doing things the best we can,” said Martinez upon the announcement of his extension.
