AEK picks up Janis Strelnieks

AEK signed Janis Strelnieks to a one-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Strelnieks, 32, will be a newcomer in the Basketball Champions League following 180 appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 66 games played in the 7DAYS EuroCup. He last played in Lithuania for Zalgiris. Back in Greece after his two-year stint at Olympiacos, he will be joining forces with fellow newcomers Alexander Madsen, Cameron McGriff, Akil Mitchell, Nikos Persidis, and Kenny Williams and new head coach Ilias Kantzouris.

Another new player for Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem as Estonian forward Siim-Sander Vene penned a contract for the next season with an option for an additional season. Earlier arrivals were Oz Blayzer, Khadeen Carrington, Or Cornelius, Zach Hankins, Gilad Levy, Mareks Mejeris, Levi Randolph, and Speedy Smith for new head coach Aleksandar Dzikic.

North Carolina State product Anthony “Cat” Barber was added by Budivelnyk to play in the BCL Qualifiers. Also confirmed on the 2022-23 squad are Bogdan Bliznyuk, Vyacheslav Bobrov, Alec Brown, Jerai Grant, Andrey Gritsak, Archie Goodwin, Pavlo Krutous, Aurimas Majauskas, and Illja Tyrtyshnyk under head coach Valery Plekhanov.

Austria’s Swans Gmunden retained 19-year-old Jonathan Soellner and completed the roster with 16-year-old Luis Streitberger. Also on the squad are Toni Blazan, Zach Charles, Dominic Green, Benedikt Guttl, Urald King, Daniel Koeppel, Daniel Friedrich, Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye, Petar Nemcec, and Lukas Schartmuller.

In another move, Cyprus champion Keravnos announced the addition of 29-year-old point guard Remy Abell. Earlier signings were Ousman Krubally and Titus Robinson, while Deondre Burns and captain Simon Michael both re-signed.
