Ray McCallum Jr. boosts Legia

Emerging as the latest newcomer for Legia Warsaw, former NBA point guard Ray McCallum Jr. extends his European journey to the Basketball Champions League.

McCallum, 31, has appeared in 46 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games in 2017-18 and 2018-19, apart from 154 games in the NBA between the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, and Sacramento Kings until the 2015-16 season. The 2021-22 campaign split between three teams included eight games played in the 7DAYS EuroCup as a member of the Hamburg Towers. His new team will compete in Group C of the 2022-23 Champions League Regular Season.

The Detroit Mercy product arrived at Legia as a replacement for Jonathan Stark, who was initially slated to be Wojciech Kaminski’s starting playmaker but recently parted ways with the Polish club. Other newcomers are Janis Berzins, Geoffrey Groselle, Travis Leslie, and Devyn Marble. Returning players are Grzegorz Kaminski, Szymon Kolakowski, Lukasz Koszarek, Grzegorz Kulka, Jakub Sadowski, and Dariusz Wyka.

Elsewhere in the BCL field, Nigerian Emmanuel Adeola was confirmed as a first-team member of UnaHotels Reggio Emilia. The 18-year-old guard will practice alongside Sacar Anim, Andrea Cinciarini, Mikael Hopkins, Martin Krampelj, Mirko Gloria, Mateusz Ponitka, Nate Reuvers, Kassius Robertson, Gabe Stefanini, and Michele Vitali, tuning up for Group B of the Regular Season.

DR Congo international Jonathan Kasibabu strengthened the Qualifiers bid of Rio Breogan. The remaining players in for head coach Veljko Mrsic are Victor Arteaga, Scott Bamforth, Luka Brajkovic, Marc Garcia, Sergi Garcia, Ethan Happ, Justus Hollatz, Marko Lukovic, Stefan Momirov, Toni Nakic, Nemanja Nenadic, Erik Quintela, and Sergi Quintela.

Denmark international forward Jonas Zohore Bergstedt will play for Siauliai this season. The Lithuanian club already picked up Bryce Douvier, Mantas Litvinas, and Kyle Mangas, and also re-signed Nemanja Bezbradica, Eimantas Stankevicius, and Arminas Urbutis heading to the Champions League Qualifying Group in Malaga.
