In control for most of the second half, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem drew the win, 73-64, against JDA Dijon, in Palais des Sports de Dijon Tuesday.

Khadeen Carrington with 15 of his 17 points after the break made the difference for the team coached by Aleksandar Dzikic. Zach Hankins carrying his side in the first half finished with an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Basketball Champions League Round of 16 Gameday 5 contest.

Pulling away with a fast start to the fourth quarter, the low-scoring affair concluded with a lack of field goals over the last five minutes, until Speedy Smith sealed the deal turning defense into offense for a nine-point lead with 44 seconds on the clock. The Louisiana Tech product upped his tally to 12 points.

The Jerusalem outfit improved to 4-1 in Group I and punched in a ticket to the Quarterfinals. Tenth win in a row in all competitions, including capturing Israel’s Migdal State Cup. Both T.J. Cline and Noam Dovrat were not available for the trip to France.

La Jeanne being eliminated allowed France’s Betclic Elite LNB Pro A rival SIG Strasbourg to clinch a berth along with Hapoel Jerusalem before meeting Hapoel Atsmon Holon in the other Gameday 5 fixture of the group tomorrow, Wednesday. Markis McDuffie putting up 24 points with 10/13 field goals was not enough to prevent the drop to 2-3 for the team coached by Nenad Markovic. Chase Simon stayed on the injury list.
