AEK filed a request to host the Final Four of the Basketball Champions League for a third time in Athens, but for the first time in the “Ano Liosa Olympic Hall”, the new arena that the club uses.

The first Final Four took place at OAKA in 2018, and the second at the same stadium but without spectators, in the fall of 2020, due to the first COVID quarantine.

The management of AEK  filed an official candidacy to the organizing authority in order to host the tournament that will decide the title in the BCL, no matter if the Greek club makes it to the Final Four.

AEK filed the paperwork on Thursday, one day after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition and exactly on the last day of the deadline for the declaration of nominations. Alongside Athens, as reported by WallaSport, the leading candidates to host this season’s Final Four are Jerusalem and Malaga.

Istanbul was also a candidate in the recent past, however, things changes after the devastating earthquake.
