Aleksandar Dzikic is no longer the head coach of Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem.

Following reports regarding the Serbian tactician on the way out and Jurica Golemac possibly taking over, the Jerusalem outfit officially released Dzikic from his contract on Thursday.

Per the press release: “It is not every day or year that a basketball team has to part ways with its coach, other than for professional reasons. Unfortunately, we are experiencing such a case for the first time. Hapoel “Bank Yahav” Jerusalem announces the release of coach Alexander Dzikic, due to personal challenges as a result of the security situation in Israel.

Dzile, we want to thank you for a wonderful year and a half. During his time at the club, coach Dzikic led Hapoel to the Basketball Champions League finals, won the State Cup and the Winner Cup, and built an excellent, high-quality team that plays for its fans, a team that we will do everything in our power to keep together.

Dzile, all of us at Hapoel Jerusalem – players, coaches, staff, management, office, fans – thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done for the club. We want to wish you success in every path you will choose. Jerusalem will forever be your home.”

The Israeli club will resume the Basketball Champions League campaign following the ongoing Play-Ins, competing in Group K of the Round of 16 alongside Lenovo Tenerife and two Play-In winners.
