A month before his 41st birthday, Marcelinho Huertas was honored as the 2023/24 Basketball Champions League MVP. Now, just three days before turning 41, he announced that he’s extending his contract with Lenovo Tenerife for another year.

The club and I already have an agreement for next season, so there is not much of a surprise. Nothing more to add, I still want to play,” Marcelinho said at the press conference before the ACB Playoffs Game 2 against Barcelona.

He’s been playing professionally since 2001 and has been with Tenerife since 2019.

As long as I see that my head, my body, and the desire are still there and that I can offer good performance on the field, I will continue to try to contribute my grain of sand to this sport and the club,” the experienced Brazilian shared.

He added that the deal is for one year and that “the club will release the agreement details when it believes it’s appropriate.”

This season, Marcelinho Huertas averaged 16.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.9 assists for a PIR of 18.8 in the BCL and 14.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists for a PIR of 15.9 in the ACB League.
