BCL Round of 16 Week 2 Recap: Dreaming big’s never a problem

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

As time passes by in the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League campaign, very few teams could stand by their results and establish themselves as contenders for the title.

With the second week of the BCL Round of 16 in the books already, entering the February break for domestic cups and International appointments, only five teams are unbeaten in such a stage in the competition: AEK, Wurzburg, Unicaja, Tenerife, and Nymburk.

The first two have conquered the competition thus far in Group I, staying on top after respectively beating Derthona and Promitheas. In Greece, the Germans pulled off a 20-point comeback.

Moving on to the Spanish unbeaten teams, Unicaja and Tenerife are also the sole squads capable of not losing one single game in the whole Basketball Champions League campaign this season.

Rytas Vilnius and BAXI Manresa tried to steal the show, but that didn’t happen.

Who’s completely turning this season around is Francesco Tabellini’s ERA Nymburk. Starting from BCL Qualifiers, they now convincingly beat last year’s third-placed UCAM Murcia. They’re dreaming big.
