It’s not even the second week of the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League Quarter-Finals, but by how the four matchups went down on the opening day of such stage, you can already smell the Final Four spirits.

It all started off in Athens and Prague, where AEK and ERA Nymburk respectively hosted Nanterre and Galatasaray, while it finished in consecutive fashion in Spain, as Unicaja hosted Pallacanestro Reggiana and La Laguna Tenerife welcomed home Derthona.

The Queen struggled to find an easy lead against the French team, but they still managed to celebrate in front of their fans thanks to the Hunter Hale-Prentiss Hubb duo.

Just after the end of AEK’s game, in Czechia, the biggest surprise of the night came to place, as Galatasaray pulled off a huge 26-point road victory to take down Francesco Tabellini’s Nymburk. Will Cummings had the best performance of the night with 33 points.

Moving on to Malaga, that’s where another scoring showdown took place, as Unicaja destroyed a Faried-less Pallacanestro Reggiana by 37 points. There was no way the Italians could survive.

The ultimate showdown of this Wednesday left the best for the end, as Derthona almost did the unthinkable: breaking Tenerife’s 28-game home winning streak in the competition. However, also thanks to Marcelinho Huertas’ 26-point night, they survived in overtime.
