Preparing to extend his career beyond Europe, 33-year-old Nemanja Radovic finished his second stint with UCAM Murcia.

On Wednesday, the team captain left the Universitarios as the all-time leading scorer and also explained his decision.

“I’ve been a professional for over 14 years, 12 seasons in Spain and 9 defending the colors of the club I’ve always loved, UCAM Murcia. I’m no longer a kid; I’m aware that my career is closer to the end than the beginning, and although I’m in great physical shape and growing in maturity, my role on the court will continue to decline over time, and my salary won’t return to its prime either. These last two factors, money and minutes, have never been priorities when it came to renewing my contract with this club I love so much,” the experienced Montenegrin forward mentioned in a press conference.

“A few days ago, I received an offer that, at this point in my career, I never expected. It’s a club on another continent and a very large financial offer. I’ve known the coach for many years, and he’s offered me a very important role,” he added.

Radovic played for Murcia between 2014 and 2017, before returning in 2020 for a second spell. Over the last three years, he logged 40 appearances in the Basketball Champions League, adding to a previous tally of 16 with Casademont Zaragoza. He also went up to 387 games played in Spain’s Liga Endesa, including 290 with Murcia.

Beyond his club career, largely focused on the team based in the seventh largest city of Spain, he has represented Montenegro in several major international tournaments at the senior and junior levels since 2007.
