Back-to-back defending champion of the Basketball Champions League, Unicaja dominated in Giannis Bourousis Karditsa Municipal Indoor Sports Hall on Tuesday, ending up with a 72-55 victory versus Karditsa Iaponiki.

Banking an eighth straight win in the BCL Regular Season, Ibon Navarro’s side went up to 2-0 in Group G, sending the hosts to 1-1. The advantage reached 24 points and provided an early decision on the winner, but was reduced to 15 points in the fourth quarter without significant implications.

With all 12 available players scoring in the Gameday 2 contest, the only double-digit contribution was from Tyler Kalinoski, putting up 12 points behind 4/6 field goals. Tyson Perez chipped in six points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Olek Balcerowski did not travel to Karditsa, emerging as the only unavailable player across both teams.

The team coached by Nikos Papanikolopoulos, a newcomer to FIBA Europe’s top-tier club continental competition, featured Demajeo Wiggins packing 15 points and nine rebounds.

In Gameday 3, the Malaga outfit will be at home against a lasting BCL original Filou Oostende, and Karditsa will be on the road opposite Mersin Spor. Both games are scheduled on October 29, following upcoming domestic affairs in Spain’s Liga Endesa and Greece’s Stoiximan GBL to build on 2-0 and 1-0 starts, respectively.
