After reaching the Play-In stage of the Basketball Champions League and parting ways with head coach Can Sevim, Mersin Spor have appointed a new head coach.
The Mediterranean-based club announced an agreement with Spanish coach Carles Duran Ortega. Ortega previously worked in Turkey last season, when he was in charge of Darüşşafaka.
In an official club statement, Mersin Spor said:
“Carles Duran Ortega has taken over as head coach of our basketball team.
Throughout his career, Duran has worked at various levels of Spanish basketball, from youth teams to the senior level at some of the country’s most prominent clubs. He stands out for his disciplined work ethic, emphasis on player development, and approach to team organization.
With the experience he has gained in league and cup competitions, we believe he will make a significant contribution toward achieving our club’s objectives.
We welcome Carles Duran Ortega to our club and wish him success in his new role.”
