Trapani have confirmed they will compete in the upcoming Basketball Champions League Play-In against Hapoel Netanel Holon, despite ongoing uncertainty in the Italian league.

The Sicilian club’s scheduled Serie A game against Virtus Bologna was postponed amid financial issues, with president Valerio Antonini set to appear in court on January 7 over unpaid salaries and tax matters. Trapani is also serving a -8 points deduction, and several key players were rumored to be leaving.

Antonini reassured fans on Facebook, also confirming that the game against Trento in the Italian Lega Basket will go ahead.

If someone thinks that not going to Bologna means withdrawing the Sharks, they haven’t understood absolutely nothing. The team will play regularly in the BCL and at home against Trento,” Trapani’s president wrote.

Sources in Israel confirm that Holon has been officially informed that the play-in game will take place as planned.
