Gran Canaria scored three points in a quarter but won after drama

Gran Canaria secured their first victory in Group L of the Round of 16 in the Basketball Champions League, defeating Nymburk on the road after a dramatic finish with a score of 67-64.

Jaka Lakovic’s team had only two players scoring in double figures, with Nicolas Brussino and Mike Tobey leading the team with 11 points each. On the other side, Tony Perkins and Sir’Jabari Rice were the best for the home team with ten points each.

The decision in the Czech Republic came in the final moments after a dramatic game. Gran Canaria started the match better, but they scored only three points in the second quarter (18-3), bringing Nymburk close to victory.

However, the visitors made a comeback with a fantastic third quarter (27-17) and eventually managed to clinch the win. Nicolas Brussino gave his team a three-point lead (67-64) with four seconds left, while Vojtech Hruban missed a three-pointer for overtime from a difficult position.

Gran Canaria is now 1-1, and in the third round, they face a Spanish derby against Tenerife. On the other hand, the Czechs have two losses, and Nymburk will seek their first win against Trieste.
