Kendrick Perry of Unicaja, Jack Kayil of ALBA Berlin, Cameron Hunt of Joventut Badalona, Johnny Berhanemeskel of Le Mans, and RaiQuan Gray of AEK shaped the Team of the Week for Round of 16 Gameday 3 of the Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL.
The five standouts named on Thursday entered a 24-hour fan vote on the official portal of the Champions League to decide the Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Friday.
Per the press release: “The Basketball Champions League Season X, powered by Ameresco SUNEL continued with eight games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday gives us time to reflect on the best individual performances.
The 14th Team of the Week saw players from Unicaja, ALBA BERLIN, Joventut Badalona, Le Mans Sarthe Basket and AEK BC make the cut.
Kendrick Perry has been playing his best basketball this season, scoring with ease while orchestrating Unicaja’s offense. His big game against Elan Chalon took the defending champs to 2-1.
Jack Kayil just turned 20, but is already taking over as ALBA BERLIN’s go-to guy. He led them in points once again, knocking down a clutch three-pointer for the lead and icing the game from the free throw line against Karditsa Iaponiki.
Speaking of clutch, Cameron Hunt knocked down a buzzer-beater for the win for Joventut Badalona, on the road at his former club Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets. Hunt has now got three game-winners this season!
Joventut Badalona are unbeaten in Group K, while Le Mans Sarthe Basket are still perfect in Group I. Johnny Berhanemeskel is a big reason why, not only did he have the best numbers against Rytas, he also made the biggest shot of the game, beating the shot clock buzzer down the stretch to send Le Mans to 3-0.
Finally, the middle belongs to another 3-0 player. RaiQuan Gray was too big, too strong, and too clutch for Tofas Bursa, keeping AEK BC at the top of Group J standings.”
