Pallacanestro Trieste has announced that Coach Israel González has been relieved of his coaching duties, with immediate effect.

Francesco Taccetti has been promoted to Head Coach “to ensure continuity in the team’s technical project”.

González guided Trieste to notable successes, including qualification for the Coppa Italia and reaching the Round of 16 in the Basketball Champions League. However, the club cited a lack of consistent basketball identity and suboptimal results as reasons for the change.

Trieste is currently sixth at Serie A standigns with 10-8 record, and last in BCL Round of 16 Group L, with 1-3 score.

The club expressed gratitude for González’s dedication, professionalism, and character, wishing him and his family continued success in the future.

On Saturday, shortly after being knocked out of contention for a ticket to the Quarterfinals, Hapoel Netanel Holon parted ways with Derrick Walton Jr. by mutual decision. Introducing himself to the BCL, the 30-year-old point guard averaged 14.6 points, 6.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest over nine appearances this season.
